He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require? The Hebrew verb translated as "love" here is 'ahav and the Hebrew noun translated here as "mercy" is hesed. The range of meanings of these two words is great, just like our English word love. In context either could mean "love." So, it follows, that a legitimate translation of the verse, could be... And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love love.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God. -Micah 6:8
